A new video display in the stadium’s south end zone will be the centerpiece of the deal. The size of the board — 55.85 feet high by 134.4 feet wide — will not change, keeping it the fourth-largest board among college football stadiums, but ANC will significantly improve the quality of the picture.

When every inch of a baseball stadium is considered hallowed ground, even comparatively small efforts at expansion are undertaken with delicacy. So it goes that Fenway Park has added seating areas to every nook and cranny while optimizing available surface area with new video displays replacing static signage — all with an eye to maintaining the historic integrity of the venue. In the latest of these strategic upgrades,124 seats were added this spring to the right-field grandstands, and the static Cumberland Farms sign was replaced with a Mitsubishi Diamond Vision XL Series 16-mm LED display measuring 14.28 ft. high by 46.19 ft. wide. The new right-field display will improve sightlines for members of Red Sox Nation seated in the grandstands or in areas dotted along the massive left-field wall that every baseball fan knows as the Green Monster.
MTA Arts & Design, MTA Capital Construction, MTA Multimedia Production, Westfield, and ANC helped bring, "The Blowing Bowler" to life at Fulton Center. “The Blowing Bowler” is an animated journey through New York City’s subway car history, from the Beach Pneumatic Transit Company (1870s), Interborough Rapid Transit Company (1910s) and subway cars from the 1940s, 1950s, 1970s to the more recent R-188 car from 2013. Sickels was inspired by the subway system and the continuous movement of MTA riders. He created a dioramic model from wood, clay, fabric, wire, cardboard and found objects, then painstakingly filmed each motion as a frame for the animation. In addition to the main minute-long animation, three shorter loops feature comical cat-and-mouse antics in reference to the round-the-clock operations of the New York City Transit system and a ridership that is always on the move. Images from “The Blowing Bowler” were also posted statically in subway cars, with promotional teasers aired at 30 subway stations via MTA’s On the Go Travel Station kiosks.

Systems Contractor News - On any given day at Fulton Center in Lower Manhattan, you will find people waiting on line for their Shake Shack burger or commuters rushing off to catch their trains, but opera singers? That’s not something you see every day at the center, which recently hosted A Marvelous Order, an opera based on the lives of Robert Moses and Jane Jacobs—ideological opponents and central figures in the development of New York City in the 20th century—as part of the River to River Performance Festival.
A mission critical control room will have HD or UDH displays, control systems, and human interface tools that are permanently integrated and never leave the room. While this can include computers and tablets, for access to content and calling up data, for example, if those devices are dedicated to the control room, they are not in the category of BYOD. "BYOD has been proliferating across almost every space, and we’ve seen most manufacturers starting to take an app or cloud-based sharing approach, utilizing built-in security protocols and firewalls in iOS or Android OS, or by tunneling through their own cloud systems and using small download plug-ins on PC’s,” said Malik Khan, senior vice president for design and integration for ANC.

What do sports statistics and the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority have in common? As it turns out, the same disciplines that inform major league teams have been harnessed to power the information and advertising networks deployed in the MTA’s flagship digital transit hub at Fulton Center, the heart of downtown Manhattan’s transportation infrastructure. In the beginning, nearly 20 years before Fulton Center came together, everything was just about paying the bills for Jerry Cifarelli, starting out as a rotational signage provider to the NBA and MLB. Today, he’s in the enviable position of leading a $60-million, full-service technology displays integrator, with no debt and cash on hand to invest in expanding the brand and growing the business.

The new jumbotron in the Reilly Center was not an easy decision. There were many things that went into the planning of the video board such as: which board would have the best visuals, which board would fit the budget best, and most importantly, which board would best suit the fans. Tim Kenney, Director of Athletics, Phil Winger, associate vice president for Facilities, and Steve Campbell, Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, spent many hours talking to various companies, listening to why each company offered the best option. After deciding on ANC Sports Enterprises’ proposal, they began the actual process of installing the video board starting in September of 2016, said Kenney.

ANC recently completed four major NCAA Basketball video displays that made their game day debut last week to rave reviews. See what people are saying about the recent installs on twitter.
We've been writing about ANC since before Commercial Integrator officially existed as a print entity, with editor Tom LeBlanc posting a shorty about the new video boards at Boston's Fenway Park in December 2000, a month before CI's first issue hit the stands. We took a closer look at the secrets of ANC's success in our second issue with president & CEO Jerry Cifarelli prominently featured on the cover of the March/April 2011 issue spinning a basketball on his finger to highlight the company's focus on bringing digital signage and eye popping video board to pro sports teams around the country.
Commercial Integrator editors created content to post to Fenway Park video boards using ANC's easy-to-use, drag-and-drop vSOFT software platform. ANC chief technology officer Mark Stross says the company “wanted to achieve the most simple-to-use system as possible.” The vSOFT platform is based on Photoshop, Final Cut and After Effects, he says, with a hyper-resolution engine attached to a known interface. “If you can make it as fast as possible to acquire good content, you’ve already won,” says Stross. “You have to make complicated things easy for people if you want them to be able to use it.” And, while ANC remains proud of the way vSOFT works and how teams use it, they’ve made tweaks over the years based on feedback from the Red Sox and other partners, says Stross.
ANC recently completed two major NCAA Football video displays that made their game day debuts in September. On September 2nd, the University of Nevada, Reno opened their season with a home win against California Polytechnic State University. The new video display made its debut in front of a crowd of 30,000 and is one of the only 12mm displays in College Football.
Lewisburg, Pennsylvania – October 3, 2016 – Bucknell University partnered with ANC to upgrade Sojka Pavilion with a new video display prior to the 2016-2017 NCAA basketball season.
The Bison will look to defend the men’s & women’s regular season Patriot League Championship in front of a new 12’ high by 20’ wide video display. The new display will be located on the north façade of Sojka Pavilion and will supplant the original video board that has been in place since the facility opened in 2003. The new board will help enhance the fan experience by providing live and packaged video, replays, statistics, contests and other entertainment.
Although Purcell Pavilion (basketball and volleyball) and Compton Family Ice Arena (hockey) already have videoboards, next year, Notre Dame Stadium will feature video as part of the game-day experience for the first time. Notre Dame, in partnership with ANC, will install a Mitsubishi Diamond Vision videoboard at the south end and ribbon boards along the east and west facades. The venue’s existing scoreboards will be removed.
As a New York-based integration firm, ANC knew the massive Westfield World Trade Center project would be something special, important and highly publicized. The company also feared that its old name, ANC Sports, would keep it from ever getting the job as systems integrator for the highly coveted project in the first place.
And, while it wasn’t the deciding factor in the integration firm’s decision to simplify and streamline its name, questions about its involvement in the project certainly helped to cement that change after it was chosen to oversee the installation of a world-record 5,000-plus square feet of seamless LED in the 16-acre complex that could attract 100 million visitors every year.
The trailblazing digital display network furnished by ANC (formerly ANC Sports Enterprises) will turn heads and monopolize the attention of 100 million visitors expected to pass through Westfield’s 365,000 square feet of retail space each year. ANC's Chief Technology Officer Mark Stross and Executive Vice President of Technology Solutions Chris Mascatello discuss the ins and outs of their multi-year digital signage partnership, which already accounts for one of the largest seamless LED canvases in the world.
Texas Tech University and ANC today announced plans for a new center-hung display for United Supermarkets Arena, home of the Red Raiders men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. The new center-hung structure will include four video displays, each measuring 16.38’ high by 25.20’ wide. Underneath the primary screens will hang a uniquely shaped LED ring. The custom lower display features a continuous ring featuring four separate hanging trapezoid shaped sections which can be driven all as one screen or segmented into single images.

Kerepesi will run sales for ANC, a company that Cifarelli co-founded in 1997 and has grown into one of the leading providers of video displays in the sports space. DONE DEAL: In March 2015, Learfield Sports completed an acquisition of controlling interest in ANC, a provider of video displays, in-venue sponsorship platforms, digital signage and other technology systems for sports venues, transportation hubs and retail facilities. Jerome Cifarelli continues to serve as president and CEO of ANC, and the company will continue to operate under its original name. Cifarelli and Learfield president and CEO Greg Brown had been crossing paths in the sports industry for close to 20 years. The two businesses offered different services in sports, but were similar in that their objective was to form long-term partnerships with clients.
"Heyo!’s 100th home run / grand slam busted the outfield scoreboard at Park." The Washington Nationals are just fine with Bryce Harper destroying Nationals Park, as long as he keeps hitting home runs in the process. Harper reached 100 career home runs in spectacular fashion on Wednesday, sending a grand slam careening off a right-field scoreboard. The blast busted a panel on the scoreboard, leaving a blank black rectangle in its wake. The Nationals took to Twitter to let Harper know that there are no hard feelings about the broken panel. ANC's Operators were on-site to address the repair quickly and the team tweeted out a picture of the replaced panel to let Harper know they are ready to "fix 100 more if need be."
(The Dallas Morning News) January 8, 2016 - Greg Brown doesn’t care whether Alabama or Clemson wins Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship. Both teams are clients of his company, Plano-based Learfield Sports, which sets up multimedia deals, sponsorships and promotions for athletic programs. So it will be a night for a victory dance, no matter whether the Crimson Tide rolls or the Tigers maul. Learfield had pretty good odds of being in this situation since it also represents the University of Oklahoma, which was knocked out by Clemson on New Year’s Eve. Its roster also includes Texas A&M, North Carolina, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Southern Methodist, plus the Big Ten and Southland conferences. “We’re known more by our brands, our teams, than we are as Learfield,” says Brown, the 54-year-old president and CEO of the parent company, Learfield Communications Inc. But that’s changing as Learfield’s reach and breadth expand.

Sports Video Group (August 11, 2015) By Karen Hogan- "Despite falling short in the NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers gave fans plenty to get excited about in the 2014-15 season. Not just on the court but above it: the largest indoor center-hung videoboard in the country.

With two sideline screens stretching 31.5 ft. high by 57 ft. wide and two baseline screens measuring 30 ft. high by 33 ft. wide, the Cavs' new center-hung display bests recent recordholders Pepsi Center (Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche), Banker's Life Fieldhouse (Indiana Pacers), and Toyota Center (Houston Rockets)."

Each tower, which will stand on either end of pit road, will measure 60 feet high and will contain two high-definition video screens in each tower that will measure 24.15 feet high and 30.45 feet wide."
SportBusiness Journal (March 2, 2015) - ANC Sports Enterprises puts the signage into stadiums and arenas. Collegiate marketing firm Learfield Sports sells it. It only makes sense that the two companies would go into business together.
In a deal consummated last week, Learfield acquired controlling interest in Purchase, N.Y.-based ANC, whose technology has been used in LED courtside signage, ribbon boards, video screens and other in-venue displays for nearly 20 years. While ANC has deep roots and relationships in professional sports, especially Major League Baseball, Learfield intends to pave the way for ANC to establish a deeper base of business in the college ranks.
Sports Venue Technology (March 19, 2015) - Learfield Sports, already a dominant player in college-sports multimedia, furthered its commitment to its collegiate partners by investing in their venue future. Sports Business Journal (April 7, 2014)- ANC developed a new software system, vSOFT, that allows for more real-time development and editing of scoreboard content.
Scoreboard systems, in part because of their size and video fidelity requirements, traditionally have required substantial pregame content development and editing, ANC's vSOFT is capable of real-time changes through a drap-and-drop user interface.
